Log exercise data with your GPS enabled phone

April 27, 2009

Believe it or not, this program was one of the reasons why I wanted to get my AT&T Tilt.  Imagine being able to automatically log your exercise data with your GPS enabled phone. You can install it on any Windows Mobile or Java enabled GPS phone but as you guessed, the AT&T Tilt was my test environment. In short, it was going to add a speedometer to my bicycle. What I didn’t know was how versatile it truly was.

Not only does it gather quite a bit of information from the phone but it also transmits that data to their free website. The website provides more functionality, like historical reporting and mapping solutions. You can even share this data with my friend and family via Facebook.

This map is from today’s lunch time walk. I walked the outlined path twice. This is highlighted by watching the  little guy walk, and yes he does speed up in the blue and does go around the track twice. The  blue highlights tell me where I had speed changes.

I did have an issue installing the app on my phone, the end solution was to make sure that the track logs were stored in main memory and not my storage card. The company support was great, I emailed them on a Saturday and got a response latter that night.

During your sessions you can log points of interest, take pictures and have them all uploaded with your data.  It even allows you to seamlessly use your media player! So far I have been able to log multiple walks, one bike ride and a run. I can’t wait to log more.
